Cavalcada de Reis 2011 From 05/01/2011 To 05/01/2011 Venue: Streets of Barcelona The Cavalcada dels Reis, or Kings Parade, marks Epiphany and it is one of the big Christmas events in Barcelona and the most special night of the year for kids. The tree Kings (Melchor, Gaspar and Balthazar) arrive by boat on January 5th at the port of Barcelona to go through all the streets in a grand parade around town with a retinue of acrobats, circus clowns and child elves. The route normally starts at the lower entrance of Ciutadella, running up Marquès De l’Argentera Street and Via Laietana Avenue. Later that night, children leave their shoes out on the balcony stuffed with hay for the kings’ camels; in the morning, they’re either full of presents or edible sugar coal depending on their behavior the previous year. The 6th of January, the following day, is a public holiday all trough Spain. |
