Festa de Sant Roc From 12/08/2011 To 16/08/2011 Venue: Gothic Quarter The Festa de Sant Roc is the Gothic Quarter’s annual street party and has been celebrated every year since 1589. In terms of authentic Catalan traditions it is hard to beat It’s hard to beat: there are parades with the geants and capgrosses (giant puppets with a person inside), sardana dancing and 19th-century street games. For those uninitiated in Catalan festivities and pageantry this is a splendid introduction. The festival centres around Plaça Nova in front of the Gothic cathedra Santa Eulàlia and conclude with a correfoc (street party with firecrackers and fireworks) and firework display.
