Barcelona Acció Musical (BAM) takes place during the Festes de la Merce in September. Free concerts are organised, usually showcasing jazz and singer-songwriters, with many taking place on the Plaça del Rei in the Gothic Quarter.

More established artists tend to perform outside the cathedral, a beautiful setting for live music, while dance acts usually pefrom at the Barcelona Fòrum.

The prime showcase of the so Barcelona (Barcelona Sound), BAM’s aim is to offer ‘music without frontiers’, to this end it mainly promotes leftfield mestissa music – an ethnic fusion.
